About prayertime.info
prayertime.info publishes calculated prayer times for cities worldwide in four languages. Times are computed astronomically from each city's coordinates and timezone using the convention published by the religious authority for that country — they are never copied from another site.
Who runs this site
prayertime.info is an independent project. The site is built and maintained by one engineer, not a religious institution, and it has no affiliation with any of the authorities whose conventions it implements.
We are software and astronomy people, not scholars. We implement published rulings — we do not issue them. Where a question is a matter of fiqh rather than calculation, the right source is your own mosque or the authority for your country, and we link to those authorities on every page.
What we do and do not claim
We claim this: the times shown are correctly computed for the stated coordinates, timezone and convention, and the convention named on each page is the one that country's authority publishes.
We do not claim to be the official timetable for any mosque. Local timetables often add a precautionary margin of a few minutes, and some mosques follow a different convention from their national authority. Where our times and your mosque's differ, your mosque is authoritative for you.
Coverage
The site covers 49 countries across four languages — Arabic, English, French and Malay — with a page for each city, a Qibla direction tool, a Hijri date converter and Ramadan timetables. Every page is also available as free JSON through the public API.
How this is funded
The site is funded by advertising. The API is free and unauthenticated. No authority, mosque or company pays for placement, inclusion or a particular calculation method, and no link on this site has been paid for in either direction.
