Privacy policy

The "use my location" button uses your browser's geolocation API, and your coordinates are used in your browser to pick the nearest city and to turn the Qibla compass. They are not sent to us, not logged and not stored. Declining the prompt costs you nothing — every city has its own ordinary page.

Our host records standard web server request data — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referrer and user agent — which is what makes serving a page and detecting abuse possible. We use aggregate analytics to see which pages and languages are used. We do not sell data, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves.

The site itself sets no tracking cookies. It may use your browser's local storage to remember a preference such as your chosen city or language, which stays on your device. Advertising and analytics providers may set their own cookies, governed by their policies.

City coordinates come from GeoNames under CC BY 4.0, which we attribute on every page as that licence requires. The prayer time data we publish — the pages and the JSON API — is offered under CC BY 4.0 as well, so you may reuse it, including commercially, provided you attribute prayertime.info and state the calculation method used.

If you are in the EU, UK or a comparable jurisdiction, our basis for processing request logs is legitimate interest in operating and securing the service. Since we hold no account data, there is normally nothing to export or erase, but you may contact us with any privacy question or request.
